Theme:
Showing others how much they matter to you.

God View - The connection between making waves and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story.

Love starts and ends with God. Love has always been the point of how God has interacted with the world. Since the beginning of time, God’s love has always been on display. That’s why we chose love to kick off a year through the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, God inspired writers of Scripture, whose works come together to tell God’s Big Story. But God’s love isn’t just about what happened in history. God loves US today! And we have the chance to share God’s love with others, right here and now. We know that God loved us first. God loved us enough to send Jesus for us. In response, we can show how much we love God by loving others...and showing people how much they matter to us.

Memory Verse:
“Here is what love is. It is not that we loved God. It is that He loved us and sent His son to give His life to pay for our sins.” | 1 John 4:10, NIRV

Week One
Bible Story: Greatest Commandment | Matthew 22:34-40
Love God by loving others.
Week Two
Bible Story: Creation | Genesis 1–2
Big Idea: God made us to take care of each other.
Week Three
Bible Story: The Fall | Genesis 3
God loves us no matter what.
Week Four
Bible Story: God Chooses Abram | Genesis 12:1-9, 15:1-6
Big Idea: God has a plan to show love to the world.

Theme: Ghost Stories

Big Idea: This four-week sermon series guide looks at the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit (also known as the Holy Ghost), and examines his work in the lives of Christians everywhere. Drawing on what the Bible says regarding the person and work of the Holy Spirit, this series is sure to encourage your students to get to know the Holy Spirit better and to walk with him through every part of their daily lives. Through the work of the Spirit, we are empowered to love others, speak about Christ, and live lives of obedience to God.

Week One
Text: 1 Corinthians 2:6–16
Topic(s): God’s Presence, Holy Spirit
Big Idea:
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence on earth and God’s presence inside of believers.
Apply It: We should start noticing the ways God is working in our lives and give the Holy Spirit credit for this.
Week Two
Text: John 14:16–17, 26; 16:5–15
Topic(s): Trinity, Holy Spirit
Big Idea:
Jesus said it would be better for us for the Holy Spirit to come than for Jesus to remain on earth—the Holy Spirit is our Helper.
Apply It: We can experience the comfort and encouragement of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of our lives, not just during church.
Week Three
Text: Romans 8:1–11
Topic(s): Sanctification, Empowerment, Holy Spirit
Big Idea:
The Holy Spirit empowers us to live the life Jesus bought for us.
Apply It: We walk in the Spirit when we obey God and His Word rather than pursuing our flesh.
Week Four
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:14–24
Topic(s): Quenching the Spirit, Holy Spirit, Being Spirit Filled
Big Idea:
It is possible to quench the Spirit’s movement in our lives by our choices to obey or disobey God.
Apply It: As we walk more in the Spirit, we will become more mature and bear more fruit.
